Each Act and implementation dates are yet to be specified but are likely to be from 2024, and into 2025, for some. These new laws introduce the following changes:
- 12 weeks paid neonatal care leave for employees whose children are in neonatal care.
- Unpaid carers entitled to a week’s flexible unpaid leave, for employees caring for dependants with long-term care needs.
- Protection from redundancy for pregnant women and new parents, extending the present redundancy protections to pregnancy and for a period after return to work takes place.
